We have had an interesting couple of weeks here. We started a class in recording methods and had 4 people sign up. We then gave them an extensive round of classes in Logic X and had them all take tests to see if they remembered any of it. Then we had our studio musicians come in and set up for a recording session to teach proper mic placement, amp settings etc.. Then came the all important recording day itself and all hell broke loose. All 4 students froze in front of the computer, none could remember what to do. We went over what happened and all 4 said that the stress of having a real session being done and a band depending on their recording ability got them all bent out of shape. I guess I never realized how far I have come from being that nervous little engineer behind the controls to an engineer that feels that my input is worth the money being paid by the bands. We have a week off from classes, so we will see what happens when they resume.
